A Break

Just a reminder that tomorrow morning I set off for sunny Spain for a holiday with my friends. This means I will not be posting probably for at least 10 days.

Try not to miss me too much! ūüėČ

What’s To Come

Long time no see, eh?

It’s been a while since I last posted because exam season was in full swing and I needed to put all my focus of the exams. Thankfully, now that hell is over and my summer has officially began!

This means that I should be able to post more regularly from now on. However, don’t expect too much within the next 10 days or so as me and a few friends are spending a week in Barcelona to celebrate the end of exams and say goodbye before we all head off to university in September.

What Can You Expect Imminently?

  • My Thoughts on Marvel’s latest Marvel NOW! teasers.
  • An opinion piece on The Infinity Gauntlet.
  • A review of the romance film ‘Me Before You‘ and my thoughts on the controversy surrounding it.
  • (Hopefully) Weekly Comic Reviews.
  • A new series I’m calling ’80s Throwback’; which would entail a millennial’ view on the hit films of the 80s.
  • And so much more…

See you soon!

Marvel’s Mosaic puzzle is complete!

All week Marvel has been releasing daily teasers illustrated by Stuart Immonen relating to a mysterious Mosaic, without confirming whether Mosaic was a character, a event or even a story arc…

My Thoughts On: Pearl Mackie as Bill

new companion
The Doctor and Bill

So here we have it, after months of speculation, the new Doctor Who companion has been cast. The lucky actress replacing the marvellous Jenna Coleman is newcomer Pearl Mackie.

Now, I’m not going to pretend I know anything substantial about Pearl’s acting career because quite frankly she’s not been in anything I’ve seen. However, the BBC did release a wonderful 2 minute teaser video showing The Doctor and Pearl Mackie’s Bill in action, which tells me all I need to know.

The clip (Which can be seen here) features The Doctor and Bill being pursued by a horde of Daleks. The Doctor and Bill find a corner to hide behind where Bill humorously questions The Doctor about the Daleks. I absolutely loved this part because it felt like a real reaction, if you’ve just seen a Dalek following you, you’d have no idea what they are and what they want- or in Bill’s case, why they have a sucky thing instead of two guns (“Did they run out of guns?”). This makes me think that Bill will be a nice departure from Clara who sometimes appeared to be a bit too knowledgeable which seemed a tad unrealistic.

I’d also just like to say that the style of Bill is just so awesome as well. Bill looks cool. Bill looks like someone I’d want to hang around with, and I totally love that.

One thing that I’m going to need a bit of time warming to is the companion’s name- Bill.¬†I know it’s¬†probably not going to sound¬†especially PC of me, but stereotypically Bill is a boys name, so I think I was just caught a bit off guard. However, this¬†definitely won’t be an issue for long because even as I’m writing this I can feel myself warming to the name and¬†I’m beginning to feel like it actually suits the character that Bill appears to be.

Anyway, I feel like, based off of that clip alone, Bill will be a welcome addition to the TARDIS and that the Doctor Who crew had a tough task finding someone to replace the departing Jenna Coleman, but they appear to have risen to the occasion with the casting of Pearl Mackie.

I’m incredibly excited for the new episodes to air now, with an all-new companion. 2017 cannot come fast enough.

Hiya guys,

I’m sorry but I won’t be doing a review of tonight’s episode of Doctor Who. It is my mother’s birthday, and I’m spending the day with her. I don’t have time to post a good review, and I don’t want to give you guys a sub-par standard.
Matt ūüôā

Sorry but I’m afraid I won’t be posting a review of tonight’s episode of Doctor Who.

I’m currently overloaded with work for school, and that has to take priority right now.

I’ll post again next week, I just can’t right now.

Sorry again!

Sorry for my absence!

I haven’t posted on here for about three weeks now and I apologise for that. I feel like I was finally getting into a steady groove with my posting habits but unfortunately school has started up again, which has drawn that to a sharp halt.

But fear not, for i have decided to pledge to make time for this blog! I really enjoy writing here on mattsdullramblings so I don’t intend to let school get in the way!

From now on I will try to post at very least once or twice a week, I promise.

On a positive note; I’ve given it plenty of thought and I’ve decided I want to become a journalist and writer. I hope to be going to a strong university next autumn (I have a few places in mind) to study journalism and I will work on my writing in my free time.

In 10 years time I will be 27 years old. That may not sound very old for you but for me that’s ancient and very daunting. My dream for 10 years time is to have a solid, decent-paying journalism job and to have had a book published. I know that’s ambitious, but if I don’t have ambition, I have nothing.

I’d also love to write comic books in my life, but that’s a long way in the future and I have a lot of goals I want to achieve before that.

I know none of what I’ve just written is likely to interest many of you readers, but I just wanted to write about it, and that’s exactly what I said I’d do all the way back on my very first post. Whatever’s on my mind, I’ll write about it.

Anyway, thanks for your patience with me, I really appreciate it.

There should be a new post later today about my thoughts on Marvel revealing Amadeus Cho as the new Hulk.

See you then!

I’m Back (again)!

Yes, yes I know- I said I’d try and post more regularly but life genuinely got in the way.

I recently spent 2 weeks in Oxford on a Creative Writing course which was a wonderful experience but obviously meant I was preoccupied with getting my stories and poems written, so unfortunately I could blog for ya’ll.

Then I got my AS results (you know those things I was tirelessly revising for a few months back) which were unfortunately worse than I was hoping for. Therefore putting my ideal future in jeopardy. I had to take a while to figure out my next move and to be honest I still don’t know what’s next for me. I’m a tad lost.

In the meantime I’m just going to use this blog as a distraction from life.
See ya soon!

Upcoming Posts

Hey guys,

I’m just letting you know that I’m still here, I’m just putting some new posts together right now.

My immediate upcoming posts will be completely comic book related. You get to hear my thoughts on the newly announced titles from Image, Vertigo, DC (maybe) and Marvel. Although, I may leave the Marvel post until after they announce their full slate of comics after Secret Wars.

I’ll also make a post about the brand new and exciting company, Aftershock Comix.

Of course there will also be my reviews of the titles I read this week.

Plenty of stuff coming up, so stay tuned!
