suicide squadThis is a very bold move on behalf of DC and Warner Bros. The first film they’re going to after Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice, is Suicide Squad. A safer bet probably would’ve been Wonder Woman, or a solo Batman film. That’s part of the reason why I am excited for this film though, it’s a massive risk, and based on the trailer, I think it’s a risk that is going to pay off.

The movie, based on the DC comic book, is about a secret task force run by head of A.R.G.U.S Amanda Waller (played by Viola Davis), which recruits super villains to do the jobs too dangerous or risky for heroes, in order to gain shorter prison sentences.

The cast is nothing short of superb. Viola Davis, Jared Leto,Will Smith, Cara Delevingne, Margot Robbie, Jai Courtney, Joel Kinnamon and many more make up this exceptional cast. Suicide Squad is written and directed by David Ayer.

I, along with the rest of the world, am eagerly anticipating the debut of Jared Leto’s Joker. Judging from the promotional images featuring him, Leto is clearly taking The Joker into new territory that we have yet to see before on big screen. Will he be better than Jack Nicolson? Better than Heath Ledger? That would be pretty damn hard to beat, but I’m certainly looking forward to finding out!

The trailer released a few months back is the main reason why this is so high up on my list. It was absolutely perfect; it captured the tone of the Suicide Squad perfectly. It also showed us a clearer view of Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn, which I still believe is some of the most perfect casting I can remember.

I look forward to seeing whether DC’s big risk becomes a big success when Suicide Squad is released on 5th August!
